Hunter X Hunter – Episode 31
Wait minute this episode of Hunter X Hunter actually has new material, uh-oh looks like I have to pay attention for once instead of going through the motions every week. I hope this is the start of a trend of seeing manga material never covered in the 1999 run. This Kastro versus Hisoka fight was nothing but a quick blurb in the original and since I do like me some Hisoka action I was more than happy to watch for once.
Eureka Seven AO – Episode 5
This episode could have gone sour quickly if not for the Goldilocks team calling for extra help. With poor Ao receiving the cold shoulder from his new teammates I expected him and Astral Ocean to follow in the overused storyline of Ao just ditching the girls and getting mindlessly lost in the city questioning what he’s doing with his life right there and then. This of course would be proceeded with hell breaking loose and everyone searching for Ao to come save the day in the Nirvash. Come on, it happens a million times. Luckily for us that didn’t happen with Ao instead sticking it out with his only buddy in the city Noah waiting for some semblance of direction. Should not have left the island now huh, these people are mean.
Zetman – Episode 6
It took six episodes and a lot of Kouga whining, but Alphas finally made his debut. However, Kouga’s “I am Justice” line was a bit over the top though and ruined the moment. At the end of the day Kouga is still just a kid living the childhood dream looking really cheesy while doing it. I was impressed he didn’t just keel over to those shrimp spawns with that gun of his packing quite the heat. It’s still unknown the full extent of his abilities and mobility of his Alphas suit, but let’s hope Kouga can take a punch or two or even stand toe to toe against a Player. I’m not really in the mood for him being useless in the future after all that cruddy character development, if you could call it that.
Hunter X Hunter – Episode 30
Sweet my favorite character finally showed up again. It’s just a matter of time until the big story arc starts rolling. Oh there was a fight too and I actually enjoyed it, what a rarity. Gon’s eagerness to test his new abilities land him in some deep trouble, with his arm taking a hurting for his excitement to jump into battle without much Nen training. Defense or offense, can’t do both? Not a chance.
Eureka Seven AO – Episode 4
Alright, time to make up some far-reaching guesses on how Astral Ocean connects to Eureka Seven because there’s absolutely nothing in this episode to write about. Asides from cutting Naru out of the picture (who else is going to prance around wearing next to nothing now?) this week’s Eureka Seven AO was standard affair. Ao joins the group, who didn’t see that coming. To start, I’m going with the original Eureka Seven world exists (Renton is still there), but the current world of Astral Ocean is completely different.
Naruto Shippuden Movie 5 – Blood Prison
What is this, the fifth Shippuden movie? Fifth time’s the charm I guess? Nope, Naruto Shippuden Movie 5: Blood Prison as done many times before it follows in familiar steps towards another boring Naruto movie. Let’s start with Blood Prison’s obscure premise. Tsunade ships Naruto off to jail out of all places because the Hidden Cloud is accusing Naruto of attacking their Raikage and killing a few jounin in the process. Wanting to keep good in political standings, it’s decided Naruto be held custody until an investigation could be carried out. Naruto already has two witnesses to prove his innocence, but the Leaf transfer Naruto to Houzukijou anyway with many of Naruto’s close friends in support of the decision.
Zetman – Episode 5
Ah finally, an episode of Zetman where I felt like it didn’t go a million miles per hour. Looks like it was true that a Player can assimilate into human society without having to fear the Sweeper appearing as long as the Player doesn’t regress. Of course there would be a natural division in the Player society, with those choosing to live it out with the humans and the rest itching to tear the flesh off every person they see.
Hunter X Hunter – Episode 29
A mundane Hunter X Hunter episode, this is the burden I have to endure to get to the good stuff. It doesn’t help looking back that most of the training and thought process done here really doesn’t apply to future fights. Well at least all the having to get passed crippling auras doesn’t play a role anymore. Bleach liked to play with that concept a lot with whoever had the more overpowering spiritual reiatsu.
Eureka Seven AO – Episode 3
Um, there’s something wrong here. Why in the world do we have a bunch of islanders not know who one half of the duo that saved this miserable planet is. Who else could have natural turquoise hair? Where are Renton and Eureka’s hero statues? Also, everyone acts like real aliens or Coralians never existed before, dumbfounded something as Scub Coral appearing when Eureka supposedly brought them along with her. At the moment the Earth Eureka Seven ended with doesn’t seem to match up with the Earth in this series. Whatever the case, no time traveling to explain it please!
Zetman – Episode 4
Wow, another time skip already? What’s the point when so little progress has taken place. Oh well, seems like Auntie is no longer in the picture ever since Jin agreed to cut all contact with her for her own safety. Jin in the meantime has spent the past two years in Undertown playing guinea pig and chewing bubble gum to bring out his ZET powers. Come now, we all know the best way to get someone to power up is to have them protect someone.
