Naruto Shippuden Movie 5 - Blood PrisonWhat is this, the fifth Shippuden movie? Fifth time’s the charm I guess? Nope, Naruto Shippuden Movie 5: Blood Prison as done many times before it follows in familiar steps towards another boring Naruto movie. Let’s start with Blood Prison’s obscure premise. Tsunade ships Naruto off to jail out of all places because the Hidden Cloud is accusing Naruto of attacking their Raikage and killing a few jounin in the process. Wanting to keep good in political standings, it’s decided Naruto be held custody until an investigation could be carried out. Naruto already has two witnesses to prove his innocence, but the Leaf transfer Naruto to Houzukijou anyway with many of Naruto’s close friends in support of the decision.

Naruto Shippuden: Inheritors of the Will of Fire - KakashiInheritors of the Will of Fire is nothing you haven’t seen before. Bad guy Hiruko plays the bad guy role by threatening the very balance of the ninja world by doing the usual bad guy type of things. Worse yet Hiruko has that oh so overused “I get to copy your techniques because we the writers can’t come up with anything original” power. Of course, it’s up to our spiky yellow-haired hero to set things right and rescue Kakashi in the process who is in a bind himself.

Naruto Shippuden MovieOh god, another Naruto movie! When will this madness stop? At this point I would follow my opening sentence with five or so paragraphs on how they should spend the money they used on this movie to improve the TV series (animation, pacing, etc), but alas, not this time around! I am going to say it now this movie was good! Not once was I forced to fast-forward because of awkward clichés, stupid lines, or it got too boring. Nope, I sat down and saw this through uninterrupted, which is saying a lot because I don’t like to waste my time with Naruto movies. It doesn’t hurt either that the movie starts off with Naruto being impaled by a dragon and a funeral scene afterwards!
