The Legend of Korra – Episode 6
Well this championship match was really disappointing. While it was great to see some unique combinations for once from the Wolfbats, I wasn’t too happy it was considered cheating. This was exactly what I was looking for from my earlier criticism of repetitive pro-bending matches. I was more irked not that they were cheating, but rather seeing it shunned for the sake of safety. Really? I hear throwing fire at one another is completely safe. It’s a letdown because some of the combinations the Fire Ferrets had the misfortune of receiving was creating some excitement for the tournament. To see the rules discouraging creativeness among the elements didn’t seem right. Korra was more than eager to fight fire with fire too. Despite all that, it was satisfying to see overall weirdo Tahno getting a swift one-two combo from Korra during the tie breaker.
The Legend of Korra – Episode 5
Yeah! Korra got away from that evil and dirty man Tarrlok. Looks like the urgency of dismantling Amon and the Equalist movement isn’t as top of a priority as I would have thought with the rebellious Korra instead preferring to spend some time getting her crush to admit his feelings for her. Time for Bolin to make his move! Who am I kidding, he has no chance, they always go for the pretty one.
The Legend of Korra – Episode 4
Looks like pretty boy toy Mako has himself a sugar mama now, how nice. I’m surprised The Legend of Korra introduced another love interest so early and had the two of them go on a fancy schmancy date already. When is Bolin going to get his turn huh? Nice guys never win. Well it’s not too bad in the short run. I wouldn’t have been too happy if Mako, Bolin, and Korra didn’t participate in the Pro-bending championship anyway, so go ahead and sell yourself for even more cash Mako. However, how in the world are these three ever going to practice with Korra cleaning Republic City of chi-blocking Equalists on a nightly basis.
The Legend of Korra – Episode 3
The Legend of Korra takes a pause from the high-flying sport of Pro-bending to introduce the central antagonist of the series Amon, leader of the Equalists. Forget about him though for a second, Amon’s henchmen already made quick work of both Korra and Mako with ease during their first encounter. This show would have been over already if not for Naga coming in and saving the day. Seems all that Pro-bending training is quite useless against street hand to hand combat. Slower and inexperienced in real fighting, our trio is going to have major problems fighting their new chi blocking opponents.
The Legend of Korra – Episode 2
Ah yes, what a better way to get the shonen senses tingling than having our new rebellious avatar Korra take part in the shonen staple, the fighting tournament. And here I thought this whole pro-bending tournament was going to happen later in the show, something Korra would improve her skills to enter, but apparently it was an opportunity to open her eyes to how modern benders fight. It also served as an equally good chance to introduce Sokka’s comedic replacement for this series and Korra’s love interest.
The Legend of Korra – Episode 1
It’s been four years since the end of The Last Airbender in 2008. My man tears flowed on that day in remembrance to the ending of one of the better American cartoons, and it’s been disheartening nothing of its level ever emerged to fill its void. With Avatar: The Legend of Korra finally making its official debut (I didn’t want to watch the pixellated pre-released garbage online), it’s time to saddle up and hope the excitement from four years ago can make its return.
