Naruto Shippuden – 172
Nagato is obviously a product of his environment, starting off fairly good even after the wrongful death of his parents. A clear example is that the concept of stealing is something of which Nagato takes no part of until the bad influences that are Yahiko and Konan start to show him how orphans of war are supposed to survive in a war laden homeland.
Knocking over the vase is extremely contrived. I do not think anyone could not have seen that coming from a mile away. Alas, Nagato’s parents get killed by Hidden Leaf Ninjas as they are mistaken for as enemies, his initial power emerges to kill said ninjas, his hatred for the Hidden Leaf Village is born and the traumatic event marks the first of two great pains of Nagato’s life. Not exactly the most original scenario in the world, but I’ll let it slide; let’s see what his second great pain involves as it’s clearly going to be the turning point that sets things in motion.
We also see where Nagato’s beginning idea of peace is fabricated from. While all broad and daring in idea, Yahiko’s original plan to rule the world seemed innocent enough allowing him to stop the needless wars surrounding him and thus finally creating a world of peace he longs for. How Nagato twisted that seemingly simple plan into massacring an entire village is yet to be revealed.
RIP Chibi the dog.
