Ookami-san – 01
I wouldn’t label this as absolutely terrible, but oh my was this a letdown. Sadly by the end of this episode the art and neko-neko gloves are the only redeeming qualities about it.
If I had to point out my main disdain for this episode, it has to be the male lead Ryoushi is unbearable to watch. I have no idea if his scopophobia / scoptophobia (fear of being seen) is some sort of comedic gag but it sure as hell is not working. I don’t really care to watch some dude cower in fear every five seconds, am I supposed to be laughing or feeling sorry for this guy?
Ryouko and Ringo are alright. Ryouko seems to be your average anime tough girl yet cute on the side we’ve seen a million times over while her friend Ringo seems to be busy being your average loli. Both characters also have no cleavage to speak of, as the show loved to point out during various periods throughout the show. I did quite like Ryouko’s neko-neko gloves; those look pretty bad ass and are indeed the highlight of the show.
As it stands, if Ryoushi stays the way he is for the rest of the show, I’m pretty sure I’m going to chuck this series quickly out the window. It’s a shame too because everything else was okay. I do hope I don’t have to sit through shoddy missions such as helping a girl’s relationship with her tennis boyfriend again in next week’s episode. Actually I wouldn’t mind silly missions, but I haven’t cracked a single smirk yet, so it’s not like I’m labeling this series as comedy yet.
