Ryoushi gets a maid and under normal circumstances this would be a good predicament to be in, but our super shy hero proves otherwise.
I like the opening scene as our sunglass wearing and hooded Ryouko is sneaking out and about to retrieve a newly published girls’ romance novel out of all things. Truly something you wouldn’t expect out of her, but it opens and develops her character further since she has managed to keep up her tsundere personality intact thus far.
This week’s episode manages to be fairly tolerable all around, which is an accomplishment because of my negative reactions to the previous episodes. Sure, the cliché background story about Otsuu’s past is fairly overused, but it’s the first time someone came out of it with the dire need to return all favors, so that’s some points of originality I suppose.
We had some minor relationship development between Ryoushi and Ryouko, as she is clearly unable to ignore the circumstances occurring under Ryoushi’s roof with another girl acting as his maid, though little of interest results from it.
This show likes ending with cutesy take away messages and this episode continues that trend. It goes on to explain Otsuu’s fervent obligation in returning favors was making everyone’s friendships to her seem as though they were held together by act of obligation and having to stay with the group out of duty than true friendship.
