Ookami-san – 06
What’s this? A good Ookami-san episode? Seems Ryouko’s sudden and surprise run in with Shirou has managed to revive painful memories between the two, Ryouko’s emotions derailed quite a bit. Ryoushi goes into detective mode to find out the dirt between them only to be shut down by Ringo shortly afterward for trying to delve into Ryouko’s personal history without asking Ryouko directly instead. Bad, bad Ryoushi!
This week’s episode features a good flashback to when Ringo and Ryouko establish their friendship. The only thing the flashback is missing is Ringo’s own personal problem. She mentions unlike Ryouko who is dealing with her dilemma in her own way, Ringo comments she is only running away from hers. It’s Ryouko’s determination to fight back and keep a firm stand despite having no one to lean on that attracts Ringo to her. As to what exactly Ringo’s own troublesome situation is, it’s something of interest and hopefully will be explored sooner than later as it would flesh her character out more to than just the red-headed loli of the show. Also it’s Ringo mentioning her own shadowed past that keeps her from being labeled as a genuine stalker in this episode.
Ryoushi’s reasoning for liking Ryouko was also explored, albeit shortly, but regardless gives us a better understanding as to why Ryoushi began to like her in the first place, for that inner cute and gentle girl Ryouko hides so well from those around her, choosing instead to exert the tough girl image our master stalker clearly can see through.
Finally, without fail Ryoushi sure does have an annoying habit of squeezing in the awkward cheesy line at the end of each episode but manages to cheer up our heroine with it, so all is well.
