I definitely had the wrong expectations going into this movie. I remember watching the initial trailer and seeing ships falling from the sky, Navy HQ going into chaos and a heavy orchestral score in the background for suspense. I also can’t forget the bad-ass title, Strong World, to round-up the awesomeness factor this trailer was producing for this movie. After the string of One Piece remake movies during the last couple of years, I was excited and eager for an original One Piece movie once again.
So with all the above I was expecting major battles with Warlords, Whitebeard Pirates, the Straw Hats, and just strong dudes in general … it is called Strong World after all. As with all trailers, they do a good job in hiding the real story, for better or for worse.
Sadly this picture had nothing to do with this episode or otherwise this would have been the best of the series yet. What we got instead was something of a return to the regular light-hearted episode with its standard take-away message of the week. Heir to a large corporation, this week’s mission revolved around finding a young boy his bride. Luckily and what saves this episode from absolute boredom is that he is followed around by his insult-happy butler who just loves to point out all the terrible qualities of each candidate bride they come across.
Naruto and Nagato come together to carry out the prophecy, a tying of different elements of the series and bringing it all together quite nicely. Nagato served as the initial catalyst with his original ideal of stopping the cycle of hate, Jiraiya believing in Nagato’s philosophy and incorporating it into his books in which Naruto would later adopt as his own, the very idea planted by Nagato but long abandoned as his life experiences had taught him it could not be done.
This episode had the potential to suck, I’m glad it didn’t as the minor inconvenience of Jin and Ami’s date was quickly pushed to the side for some real character development.
I’m sorry but my mind is blown to the fact this whole incident between Ryouko and Shirou happened in middle school. Assault at 13 years old, are you kidding me? Can we please bump the ages up a bit so I don’t have to take what essentially is a preteen drama seriously?
Poor Alice, though for the story’s sake we can’t have even more people join the group, especially some old guy! We have to keep the show young looking and fanservice ready! This week’s episode features little of plot advancement besides the addition of Alice, but all than makes up for it in action, crazy Kohta sniping, short shorts, and a healthy amount of fanservice.
Serving as like a lull before the storm episode, the gang takes a well deserved rest to answer the most important of questions … who has the biggest of them all? With no time to hit the beach, what a better way to relax and squeeze in the obligatory fanservice episode than having a hot, steamy and curvy bath scene.
What’s this? A good Ookami-san episode? Seems Ryouko’s sudden and surprise run in with Shirou has managed to revive painful memories between the two, Ryouko’s emotions derailed quite a bit. Ryoushi goes into detective mode to find out the dirt between them only to be shut down by Ringo shortly afterwards for trying to delve into Ryouko’s personal history without asking Ryouko directly instead. Bad, bad Ryoushi!
