Highschool of the Dead – 03

Highschool of the DeadOdd we haven’t seen any other students roaming about in the school, but here they are, and as quickly as they make their appearance, a good portion manage to get themselves killed stupidly shortly afterward. No comment on the girl who suicides herself in the name of love. Cheesy stuff. The escape bus can only fit so many people, why not kill them off now than having them argue who gets to go on I suppose.

Amagami SS – 03

Amagami SSJust shoot me, my testosterone levels have fallen to dangerously low levels. Brow kissing, back of the knee kissing, I am fully expecting our super pervy and super horny hero male lead will ask Morishima to allow him to kiss her arm pits during the next episode. I will not be surprised if there is not a full-blown kiss until all awkward body parts have been cycled through. Coupled with the fact that Junichi is gradually improving at acting as a puppy, this show makes me want to gouge my eyes out even more.

Ookami-san – 03

Ookami-sanFor precisely 20 minutes I thought to myself, “This show sucks, why am I watching this garbage?” Precisely after 20 minutes I thought, “This is ending well.” The episode manages to miraculously pull out a cute and meaningful closing.

For what seemed to be forever, I had to endure the two conceited Otohime and Usami compete against one another in the name of love, beauty and back-stabbing.

Naruto Shippuden – 168

Naruto ShippudenWhat I enjoyed about this final confrontation between Naruto and Pain is that the show has Naruto sticking to his roots. Pain is not defeated by anything fancy like with Naruto’s new Sage Mode, his Wind Style: Rasenshuriken or some new desperation move he could have created using Nine-Tails chakra, no, in the end Pain is brought down by Naruto’s old standby, the Rasengan.

Highschool of the Dead – 02

Highschool of the DeadLooks like Hirano Kohta wins the best character of the episode award. I was coming into this episode waiting for Saeko to turn up since chicks with swords are always cool. However, Kohta emerges with a crazy nerd-like fanaticism for guns and displays a lust for shooting all things dead. That and his awkward interactions with the ever so stuck-up Takagi prove to be entertaining.

Amagami SS – 02

Amagami SSWith one-liners like this you too can pick up the ladies. This show doesn’t disappoint in its uncanny ability to deliver cringe worthy dialogue from our hero male lead scene by scene.

Speaking of Junichi, despite having a positive ending for him in this episode, he’s still not the character I can root for. These romance anime shows are pretty hard to enjoy if I think the male lead is not exactly likable or justified in getting the girl in the first place so to speak.

Ookami-san – 02

Ookami-sanTwo steps forward, one step back. Let’s start with the good. Ryoushi proves to be half-way decent this episode, tolerable though his phobia is still quite annoying. As we see, he is not half bad when he hides in the dark where no one can see him so he can do his thing undisturbed, to the point where you get that “cool character” vibe from him, though he manages to destroy that image quickly with some of the lame lines he delivers at the end of his one on one fight. Oh well, at least he’s getting better, amazingly enough he manages not to be the most annoying character during the episode.
